When it comes to chickens, there is a common notion that they are flighty creatures. In other words, they are known for being easily startled and skittish.
But what does it really mean for a chicken to be considered flighty?
The term “flighty” refers to the way in which a chicken reacts when faced with an unexpected situation or sound.
Chickens have very attuned senses and can detect even the slightest changes in their environment, making them extremely sensitive creatures capable of reacting quickly. When startled by something unfamiliar or heard from a distance, chickens will often react by flapping their wings and running away, thus leading to the idea that they are flighty animals.
